Challenge. Costa Coffee has a rich heritage — one that has named it the UK's favourite coffee shop 12 years in a row. But Costa hadn't had a brand refresh since being acquired by The Coca-Cola Company in 2019. They came to us looking for a new creative platform.

Inspiration. A cup of coffee is more than just a drink — it's an experience, something that lies at the heart of Costa Coffee. It's an emotional lift with the power to make your day a little better; something increasingly true since the pandemic, as people appreciate the small things that lift their mood.

Idea. As part of the WPP Open X team, we created a new creative brand platform: 'Made a Little Better', centred on the insight that everything is made a little better when your coffee is. The campaign humorously depicts deeply relatable, challenging human moments — and shows how a Costa Coffee can lift us up, give us a break, a treat, or be used to form a connection.
